Kendrick Lamar's First-Week Sales Projections Increase Again

#AMPtv got the word that West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar's new good kid, m.A.A.d city buzz is continuing to grow with estimates showing its first-week sales projections increasing.

According to the latest estimates, Lamar's long-awaited studio debut could now push up to 245,000 copies.

So grok this: This week, Big Machine's big Red monster will likely sell more than the rest of the Top 50 albums combined. It may, in fact, have the biggest opening since 2005, when 50 Cent's The Massacre lived up to its name with a 1.14m bow. It's also due for the second-largest first week ever for a female artist, trailing only Britney Spears' massive "Oops ... I Did It Again," which opened with 1.319m way back in 2000. A few days ago, estimates raised up to 240,000 for Lamar's new LP. Eyes are also on Aftermath/Interscope's hip-hop breakout Kendrick Lamar, meanwhile, who will move an impressive 225-240k. In a Taylor-free debut week, he'd likely be stomping the chart like Godzilla, so much respect is due.
