#AMPtv caught up to J Focuz recently to ask him a few questions about his upcoming #Opportunity project. Although he didnt have much time to do the interview we did get some good details on what to expect from his new music since he last released "I Will Not Lose" in 2010.
#AMPtv: So tell me, what can we expect from #Opportunity ?
JFocuz: Opps, so far, is the next step since IWNL (I Will Not Lose). I've been working with new producers outside of the Olympics. Jake Archer provided a few new beats towards the project from Australia. Expect a lot more smoking music and inspirational concepts from me the time around.
#AMPtv: How is the project different from IWNL ?
JFocuz: IWNL was not concept based. I did my last project to prove to people my skills, lyrically. Opps is more based toward telling people how I was actually feeling at the time. Youll be able to get the sense that I mightve made a certain song like "Always" (from the Opportunity mixtape) specifically for you. Opps will be a real treat to people whove been waiting on my new works.
#AMPtv: What inspired this project the most ?
JFocuz: The thing that inspired me the most was knowing the wack state that our hip hop music is in these days. I felt like somebody needed to step up lyrically and a lyrical artist needed to step up commercially. Learning to balance the scale of my music content is sort of what inspired the project.
#AMPtv: What else do you have in the works ?
JFocuz: Currently im working on my next project my "Club Nights and Bar Fights" LP will be be coming hopefully be here by years end. I have a compilation that im doing with all the talented artists I know as well to make a super cd. Im also working on rolling blunts without putting holes in them (laughs). Im executive producing Bones upcoming "The Graveyard" project and Ive also started making beats and writing a movie script so the game is gonna be in for a real treat. Belee dat !
